A California-based 3rd culture kid, I started Mukta’s Nutrition Kitchen as a resource for you to get healthy, feel like a million bucks and stay that way. As a certified holistic nutritionist, I coach busy, ambitious women (and some men) to resolve stress-related health issues, reclaim their energy, put themselves first and show up nourished for their lives.
But – how did I get here?
Truth is, if it weren’t for my own chronic stress, this business would still be a distant dream in my (exhausted) mind.
Long story short…
Before I became a holistic nutritionist, I spent 15 years as an HR professional in several high-pressure jobs (with a big chunk at a Big 4 firm). As my career progressed, so did my stress levels.
First came the health problems: low blood sugar, weight gain, PCOS and muscle spasms. I skipped meals because I was busy; found myself tired, wired and wide awake all night – and before I knew it, was running on empty. I knew something was wrong but kept on moving.
Call it divine intervention (or whatever); but it was also around then, that I decided to go back to school for holistic nutrition. While working full-time. Yup, an over-achiever alright.
But that’s when the light bulb went on – I discovered how unhealthy my patterns were and how dangerous my stress-filled lifestyle was.
Yet, here I was at work – an executive coach giving everyone and their moms the confidence to make empowered career decisions – when I felt frozen, exhausted and confused in my own life.
Things got worse before they got better…
I became that person who got triggered by every little thing and dissolved into tears, at work, at home, at friend’s homes…it wasn’t pretty. The final straw came during a 10-day holiday in Hawaii with my in-laws who’d flown in from Australia; when I missed a family dinner because I was having a severe meltdown in the hotel room.
This wasn’t me, nor the person I wanted to be.
I had to make a change.
(Stress may have robbed me of sleep and my comfiest jeans but there was no way I’d let it take over my life!)
Depleted and broken, I made the decision to say goodbye to my stable job and put my health first. I finished school, took a few months to put myself back together and launched Mukta’s Nutrition Kitchen.
And I’m so glad I did, because I love my life now. Things aren’t perfect, but I’m no longer a depleted hot mess and have the tools to manage my stress every day. I prioritize self-care, protect my energy, am mindful of what nourishes me and am better at saying “no”.
And that leaves me rested, able to show up fully for the people I love and excited for the work I do.

While I’ve come a long way since then, I still see so many women struggle with trying to balance the multiple exhausting demands of a career, family and being present for their beautiful lives.
